KITESURFING in Diani Beach

H2o Extreme was founded in 2003 as the first kiteboarding school on Kenya’s south coast and is now the leading kitesurf centre in Kenya. Since 2006 our school has been affiliated by the IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization), which is the biggest international kitesurfing-related association worldwide, generating the highest teaching and safety standards. When attending a course with one of our instructors you can be sure to receive professional tuition according to these standards. All our instructors are minimum IKO Level I certified with several seasons of working experience under their belt. According to the level you achieved after the course, your instructor will enable access to your personal Vcard. Our centre offers lessons for different levels and equipment rentals for independent riders. Using the latest gear from Ozone Kites, Crazyfly & Lieuwe boards as well as Prolimit harnesses, impact vests, helmets, Lycras and neoprene shoes, the centre has the biggest selection of equipment along the Kenyan coast.

Lessons & Courses

We have a variety of different course packages available suitable for different levels, from total beginner courses or intermediate/refresher packages to individual 1 : 1 coaching. All courses include the necessary safety gear and kite equipment as well as your personal level certification according to IKO standards. The beginner-friendly water and wind conditions on Galu Beach combined with professional tuition, will ensure safe and fun learning.

Our lessons & courses are generally held in English, whereby we employ foreign instructors during our windy seasons, who are usually fluent in Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian and/or French.

Equipment rentals

Apart from kitesurfing tuition our center also offers equipment rentals for independent riders. We require a level, where you are able to safely launch and land the kite on the beach, enter and exit the water with the kite in the air, ride confidently to both directions, stay up-wind, recover your board and relaunch the kite in deep water, know and respect the right of way rules and perform a self-rescue.

All rentals come with beach assistance through our competent beach crew and include: setting up the kite, launching and landing help, rescue service and cleaning & packing of the gear. Also partial rentals are possible, for example only the kite, board or harness.

In case you would like some support while getting used to the new spot and conditions, we also offer supervised rentals at a small extra charge.

Storage, Beach AssistancE & Repairs

For those ones, who are not accommodated right on the beach or simply want to take advantage of our professional beach assistance, have the option to book a storage locker at our center. Storage includes rescue service, beach assistance and the usage of facilities such as showers and toilets.

We also offer kite repairs for punctured bladders, re-glueing of valves and canopy tears.
